The Largest Transport Aircrafts in The World

Since the discovery of aviation, aircrafts have been used to transport heavy and bulky cargo. Many transport planes have been built throughout the history of aviation, wowing the world with its gigantic sizes.

Here are a few of the largest transport aircrafts in the world:

Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules

This aircraft is a four-engine turboprop military transport plane. The Super Hercules is the world’s most advanced tactical airlifter, designed and developed with mission flexibility in mind. It is fully equipped for combat delivery, air-to-air refuelling, special operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian missions. Its maximum payload is 42,000 pounds. It measures 112 feet long and has a wingspan of 132 feet.

Airbus A400M Atlas

The Airbus is a European turboprop military transport aircraft. It was designed as a tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities to replace its older counterparts. With a maximum payload of up to 81,600 pounds, the A400M can carry numerous pieces of outside cargo, including vehicles and helicopters that may have been too large or too heavy for previous generation transport aircrafts. It’s 148 feet long and its wingspan measures 139 feet.

Aero Spacelines Super Guppy

This aviation wonder is a large wide-body cargo aircraft used for hauling out size cargo components. It was built to replace The Pregnant Guppy, the first of the guppy aircrafts produced by Aero Spacelines. The length of the aircraft is 143 feet and its wingspan is at 156 feet. It can carry up to slightly over 54,000 pounds.
